PPANI LogoOn Wednesday, October 9th, ESC! Technologies Group will be speaking at the Professional Photographers Association of Northern Illinois‘  Members Program on the importance of password security and backup strategies for photographers.

In this two-part talk held at the studios of C. Romano Photography in Woodstock, IL, Mike will lead a discussion focusing on two different concerns facing the modern photographer: online security and digital asset security.

In part one, Mike will examine ways to increase the security of online profiles through the use of stronger passwords.   Starting with some simple password security tips, the talk will quickly move on to defining what makes a strong password, and then wrap up by covering a few simple password creation methods to build a strong library of online credentials.  Finally, Mike will discuss some tools that can be used to help keep track of it all.

Part two will be an open discussion covering the bread and butter of every photographer’s business: their digital images. What techniques can be used to keep images secure while out in the field and, more importantly, once back in the studio, how solid is the backup plan to protect those images — and the photographers business — from disaster?

Mike is scheduled to speak from 10:30 – Noon.

Other presentations scheduled include a talk on lighting fundamentals by Norman Phillips and a discussion on image organization using Lightroom by Shelly Kraemer.
